Voiceover artist can work in many different areas and find their expertise. There are lots of opportunities in this industry, and It is very very important that before getting into the industry, we do our share of research and understand different types of voiceover domains.

There are seven types of areas that an artist can target. They are as follows

1. ADR – This means automated dialogue replacement. This includes calling the voice actor and re-recording new audio for an already recorded track to remove the noise, hisses, or any other unwanted sound. To do this the voice actor has, to be very good with lip syncing. This form is also known as dubbing.

2. Explainer Videos – Animations are often very dramatic in and require voice artist to be greater than life in their final output. So going to limits while practicing is helpful. Voiceover actors should be able to narrate various sorts of scenes. This is the main reason why animation attracts many talented voice actors.

3. Audio Books – This is becoming mainstream entertainment as many voice actors are interested in becoming narrators and audiobook readers. Audiobook narration requires complex skills compared to commercial voiceover or theatre acting, though the abilities of both styles are beneficial when marking your footsteps in this industry

4. Anime – This comes under the animation genre. Getting into voice over anime opens up a vast world of work opportunities for the artists. But It also has an adverse side because the actors have to face the biggest challenge of vocal projections that at times damages the vocal cords. And hence this industry is not touched a lot of them.

5. Commercials – Matching the right voice with the right ad is a critical part of producing an advertisement, that is convincing and fits with a specific brand. Advertising agencies use voice actors in multiple ways. Commercial voiceover is one of the most skillful genres.

6. E-Learning Presentations – It means a video that walks you through the steps of how to assemble a piece of technical equipment or actions of a portal, or stages in a process. Many voice actors believe that e-learning makes up a significant share of their wallets. Many eLearning clients look for voice over talent that has a background in a technical field, or expertise in some areas to add a personal touch in the presentation.

7. IVR And Telephonic Jobs – Many corporations use IVR (Interactive Voice Response) recordings on their client phone systems to help filter customer calls. Because a large number of customers hears IVR, it is very crucial that the voice artist comes across as professional and appealing.
